Einstein Community Health Outreach (ECHO) is a student-run free clinic affiliated with the Albert Einstein College
of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. It provides free, high-quality medical care to underserved and uninsured communities.
ECHO offers services such as general medical exams, preventive care, health education, and referrals, while also giving
medical students hands-on experience in community healthcare.
What ECHO helps with:
● Primary Care - They offer adult routine medical exams, physicals, vaccinations, prescriptions, reproductive health visits (including gynecology exams and Pap smears), social services and counseling by appointment.
● Referrals - Healthcare that cannot be provided by the clinic is provided mainly by referral to a nearby hospital. ECHO then refers patients to many specialties, including dental, nutrition, and mental health services.
● Nutrition - Their partnership with the Mott Haven Community Fridge offers free produce to-go on Saturdays during clinic. ECHO can also connect you with the New York Common Pantry for assistance with food insecurity.
● Social Work - ECHO staff can also help you apply for Medicaid and other insurance programs. Staff can also help with food services, domestic violence screening and counseling, transportation, and medications, equipment ordering, and more.
● Spanish Speaking Services - Each week they have Spanish-speaking interpreters at the clinic. Many of the students and clinicians are also Spanish-speaking.
● Health Education - Students and clinicians will focus on your health concerns and share with you about important health issues during the visit.
● Immigration Medical Examinations - The ECHO team includes civil surgeons that perform immigration medical examinations. This includes necessary lab tests, vaccines, and paperwork. This process could take up to 1 month to complete.
