U.S. News & World Report Overview

Lawrence Ng Joins John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy Charter School Board of Trustees

New York and Los Angeles.  October 28. The John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy Charter School, an alternative high school in New York City, announced that Lawrence Ng has joined its board of trustees. The academy re-engages and enables students who have dropped out of traditional high schools to obtain a high school diploma.

The Wildcat Academy’s board is being expanded to eight members, overseeing the academy’s 475 students that are attending one of the two Wildcat campuses. The Bronx campus, located in the Hunt’s Point section of the Bronx, provides classes and services to students who are freshmen and sophomores. The Manhattan campus, located in the Wall Street area, serves juniors and seniors with 21+ credits.

As a member of the board of trustees, Lawrence will serve to further the school’s mission of providing students aged 16 to 21 with the personalized educational experiences they need to build successful futures by overcoming the economic, social and personal challenges that caused them to fail in other high schools.

Through the Lawrence C Ng Family Foundation, Lawrence supports non-profits whose mission it is to create brighter futures for underprivileged youths through education, mentorship and career guidance. As a graduate of New York City’s public school system, Lawrence is passionate about advancing education for disadvantaged youth. He is also involved with Synergy Academies, a Los Angeles-based charter school that has opened an elementary, middle, and high school to support the lower-income students in South Central LA.

Lawrence is the principal of asset management firm LNG Management and CEO of SimplyBridal, a retailer that simplifies the entire bridal process. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California.

We are accepting lottery applications at both the Bronx and Manhattan locations.

TOP 10 REASONS TO JOIN JVL WILDCAT'S PTO:

1. It’s good for your child. Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their school make better grades and have fewer disciplinary problems at school. When parents get plugged in at school, their children do better.

2. It’s important to the school. PTO provides support to teachers and administrators, and creates a caring and supportive atmosphere in the school. With all of the budget cuts, schools are becoming more and more dependent on parent groups.
